BOARD BRIEFS

JULY 12, 2004

 

 

The Smithville I.S.D. Board of Trustees met in special session on Monday, July 12, 2004 beginning at 6:00 P.M.  Items discussed or acted on by members included the following:

 

The Board moved to item # 2 to begin the meeting.

 

2a.    Resignations of certified personnel – The Superintendent informed the Board of

         the following resignations:

            Doug Anderson – teacher/coach at the elementary

            Tricia Porter – teacher at the elementary

            Kendall Flack – newly hired teacher at the elementary

            Karen Janda – teacher at the elementary

            Jan Brown – teacher at the junior high

            Chad Saunders – teacher at the high school

            Olivia Brown – teacher at the high school

            Steve Prater – newly hired teacher at the high school

            Suzette Sanders – teacher at the high school

 

2b.    Employment of certified personnel – The Superintendent recommended

         employment of the following personnel: Ryan Moerbe, Andrea Fiebelkorn,

Lindsay Stephens, Sarah Broach, Sheryl Shewell, Karen Tiller, Natalie Fikac, Whitney Myers, Abigail Walker, Nacom del Toro, Jason Peterson, and G.T. “Sonny” Dickerson.  Mike Wittrock moved to approve employment of the above personnel for the 2004 – 2005 school year.  Peggy Walicek seconded, and the motion carried 7-0.

 

The Board then returned to item #1.

 

1.      Consider Long Range Facility Planning for the District – In the interest of

         being proactive, the Board met in special session to address future needs of the

District.  They discussed possible future building projects and renovations, as well as the need to establish a game plan to address future growth in enrollment.
