WHAT ARE WE CURRENTLY DOING?

Listed below are the activities as they relate to the six areas in the framework of parental involvement.

SMITHVILLE ELEMENTARY

1. (CM) Daily communication is sent home to parents via the student planner.
2. (CM/C) The campus actively supports the Booster Club.
3. (CM/L) A Parent Information night is scheduled in August of each year.
4. (CM) Each 6-weeks a newsletter is sent home to inform parents of upcoming events, etc.
5. (P/L) Title I Parent Compact meetings are conducted at the beginning of the school year.
6. (CM) Gifted and Talented meetings are held once a year.
7. (P/L/D) Migrant parent meetings are held at Region XIII annually.
8. (V) Parent volunteers are welcomed and utilized.
9. (CM) Parent Conferences are held at school, by phone or through home visits.
10. (P/L/CM) Parent training is provided through the Bastrop Special Education Co-Op on an annual basis.
11. (D/L/CM) Parents are involved in educational decisions at ARD meetings for the special education student.
