WHAT ARE WE CURRENTLY DOING?

Listed below are the activities as they relate to the six areas in the framework of parental involvement.

BROWN PRIMARY

  1. (D) Parents are included on the campus site based team
  2. (CM) Daily communication through the TIP folder (Parent Information Packet)
  3. (CM) Three-week progress reports are sent home with every student.
  4. (CM) The campus hosts a "Meet the Teacher Night" and "Open House" in the fall and in the spring.
  5. (CM/C) The campus supports the Booster Club with 100% of the staff joining the Club.
  6. (P/L) Monthly newsletters are sent home, Home and School Connection and Recipes for Success.
  7. (P/L) Title I Parent Compact meetings are conducted at the beginning of the school year.
  8. (CM) ESL parent meetings at least two times a year (Fall and Spring)
  9. (P/L) /D Migrant parent meetings are held at the Region XIII Service Center annually.
  10. (CM) Gifted and Talented parent meetings at least once a year.
  11. (P/L/CM) Parent training is provided through the Bastrop Special Education Co-Op on an annual basis.
  12. (D/L/CM) Parents are involved in educational decisions at ARD meetings for the special education student.
  13. (V) Parent volunteers welcomed and utilized.
  14. (CM) Information is posted on the marquee.
  15. (CM) The campus has information on its web site.
  16. (CM/L) The Principal sends home monthly calendars to all parents.
  17. (CM/L) Teachers send home weekly calendars to parents.
  18. (CM) Parent Conferences are held at school, by phone or through home visits.
  19. (CM) Parents and grandparents are invited for lunch.
  20. (CM) Parent phone calls and visits are encouraged.
  21. (CM) Sports events and school events are published in the newspaper.
  22. (CM) An award day ceremony is planned at the end of the school year.
  23. (CM) Parents attend school programs when Kindergarten presents an annual Thanksgiving Day Program, First Grade presents a Christmas Program, and Second Grade presents an annual Veteran's Day program.
  24. (CM) Parents are invited to volunteer at the three annual parties in the classroom to celebrate Halloween, Christmas, and Easter.
