WHAT ARE WE CURRENTLY DOING?
Listed below are the activities as they relate to the six areas in the framework of
parental involvement.

The campus has an active PTO organization. The parents honor teachers through various
planned activities.

Title I Parent Compact meetings are conducted at the beginning of the school year.

Parents participate in various Booster Clubs that support specific organizations (band,
athletics, etc.)

Parents participate in school functions by attending sporting events, musical events,
theater arts, etc.

Parents are actively involved in the agriculture program by donating time at the annual
Jamboree.

Parents serve on the campus site based committee, career and technology committee and the
technology committee.

Migrant Parent meetings are held at Region XIII Service Center annually.

There are two Open House dates set during the year to allow parents to meet with the
teachers.

"Tiger Times" newsletter is published and distributed every six weeks.

The campus uses the local media to get the message out to parents about goes on at the
High School.

The counseling department hosts a "College Night" in the Spring
semester each year.

The counselors meet with parents and students individually to make plans for graduation,
career choices and financial aid.

The Director of Special Programs meets with all GT parents at every grade level to discuss
options and opportunities available to them during their school years.

Parent training is provided through the Bastrop Special Education Co-Op on an annual
basis.

Parents are involved in educational decisions at ARD meetings for the special education
student.
