Smithville I.S.D.
Accountability

As a Texas public school, Smithville I.S.D. is rated by the Texas Education Agency each year based upon a set of academic excellence indicators.  The major indicator is student performance on the State mandated testing system called The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills  (TAKS).

Smithville High School earned four out of five possible Gold Performance Awards in the most recent administration of the TAKS test. The areas of high school gold performance were improvement in the math TAKS, improvement on the reading/language arts TAKS, and performance on the TAAS.TASP equivalency test.  Smithville ISD received a Gold Performance Award as a district based upon the number of graduates from the Class of 2004 who met or exceeded TAAS/TASP equivalency standards.

The school district tests students on the TAKS each spring and the results are used to establish ratings which are published in August of each year.

The requirements for each rating category are explained in this chart.
