S.I.S.D. Parent Information

Parents are an integral part of the educational process at Smithville I.S.D.  The district provides information to parents in many venues.  A district website (www.smithvilleisd.org)  is updated on a daily basis.  This website contains weekly activities within the district.  In addition, Time Warner Cable channel 10 is utilized as a method of communication for parents.  Realizing not all parents have access to cable television or the internet, a weekly calendar of events is posted in the local newspaper, The Smithville Times. Students are given information at school ( flyers, bulletins, etc) with instructions to convey the information to their parents. The District is committed to facilitating the involvement of parents in the school.   The Board has established a District goal to improve parent involvement.  In December of 2001, the district director for parent involvement developed a parent involvement improvement plan and presented it to the Board.  The plan surveys the research on parent involvement, summarizes what is currently being done at each campus in parent involvement, and outlines a plan for improving parent involvement.  There is a button on the left which will take you to this plan.  The School District director of parent involvement is Cheryl Burns.  Please contact her or your campus principal for additional information on parent involvement.

Also there are several buttons on the left that will take you to pages that contain information about our gifted and talented program, and our character education program.  Then listed below are a number of links to other very helpful sites for parent information.
