Child Nutrition Department Earns Awards

Child Nutrition Dept receiving awards
Congratulations to the child nutrition team on their achievement in the 2018 Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Farm Fresh Challenge. TDA (and Smithville ISD) commends the department’s commitment to teaching children about healthy lifestyles using Texas Agriculture.
Almost 20% of Texas school districts participated in the Farm Fresh Challenge this year. Our district was one of the few that took this challenge to the highest level and achieved the Best of the Bunch recognition.
Beverly Shaw from TDA ESC 13 presented the department with the award at the April School Board meeting.

The Child Nutrition Department will also be awarded for Excellence in Summer Meals by the Texas Hunger Initiative. Only three districts in Central Texas received this award; Austin ISD, Bastrop ISD and Smithville ISD.
Katie Nye with the Texas Hunger Initiative presented the recognition to Mrs. Biehle and her department at the April School Board meeting.
Smithville I.S.D. is proud of Mrs. Biehle and her staff for their commitment to promote and advance the health and well-being of the students and staff of Smithville I.S.D.
