Dr. Logan Accepts Fine Arts Director Position with Manor ISD

(Smithville) Smithville Junior High Principal Dr. Bethany Logan announced to her faculty that she should would be leaving at the beginning of December to take a Central Administrative position with Manor ISD as the Fine Arts Director.

In a letter to parents, Dr. Logan stated, ‘it has been an honor and privilege to work with you and your children’, and that she ‘looks forward to seeing the successes of SJHS in the future.’

Superintendent Burns added that Dr. Logan’s focus on instruction has brought an improvement in student performance.  Dr. Logan and her staff have worked diligently on improving student learning as well as providing opportunities for innovative programs such as Project Lead the Way, Destination Imagination, and Texas Future Problem Solvers.  

Smithville ISD has hired Mr. Albert Matus as interim principal during the search for Dr. Logan’s replacement.  Mr. Matus has experience as a campus principal in local districts and has worked with SISD in an interim leadership position in the past.  Superintendent Cheryl Burns stated, ‘she appreciates Dr. Logan’s leadership and commitment to support the growth of the junior high campus.’ 

Mrs. Burns’ is working with a team of educators to find a suitable replacement as soon as possible.
