The new Multi-Purpose Athletic Complex and Junior High campus are progressing on time and under budget, construction managers said Monday. During the June regularly scheduled board meeting trustees approved the GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) presented by PBK and Drymalla. The GMP for the junior high campus is $15,135,510 which includes upgrades to classroom technology.
Jean Ann McCarthy, SISD Director of Finance, informed members of the School Board that the construction project is $650K+ under budget.
The athletic complex is scheduled for November 2018 completion. The junior high site is ready for construction to begin as dirt and utility work was completed during the initial phase of construction of the athletic complex.
Superintendent Cheryl Burns said that she ‘is appreciative of the work between PBK, Drymalla, and the District on this project.” Burns added that with the quick permitting turnaround by the City of Smithville for the junior high campus ‘we are eager to see this next phase of the construction begin.’ Rusty Klaus, with Drymalla, agreed with Trustee Alan Hemphill that they are on schedule to open the doors of the junior high in August of 2019.
