About Us

The Smithville Independent School District is a proud public school system in the picturesque Lost Pines of Central Texas. With the beautiful Colorado River running through our city, we are in the Heart of the Megalopolis, situated 45 miles southeast of Austin, 85 miles northeast of San Antonio, and 115 miles west of Houston.

Smithville ISD serves over 1800 students from within a 281-mile radius of Smithville, Texas.  We have four main campuses including Brown Primary School (Pre-K & Kindergarten), Smithville Elementary (1st - 5th), Smithville Junior High (6th-8th), Smithville High (9th-12th), and a nontraditional online high school extension, Tiger Academy. The ACE Program has been providing after school services to our elementary level students since 2010.

We are also the largest employer in our community with approximately 285 employees with classroom teachers making up the bulk of our employees.
