Smithville ISD Receives USDA Waiver for Students to

Receive a FREE Breakfast & Lunch

Free breakfasts and lunches will be provided to all Smithville ISD students beginning September 21, 2020 thru end of the 20-21 school year.

Smithville ISD has received a waiver from the USDA which will allow for all SISD students (learning virtually and on campus), as well as children in the community 18 and under, to receive free breakfasts and lunches.

Students learning via on campus will receive 1 FREE complete meal each day.  Any additional entrees or snacks will be charged to the students’ meal account.  Charging will be only allowed if the student has money in their account.

Students learning virtually and children not enrolled in school have 2 options to receive the FREE meals: Curbside or Home Delivery.

  • Curbside meal boxes can be picked up behind the Elementary Cafetorium located at 800 Bishop Street on Fridays from 11:30 am-12:30 pm.
  • Home Delivery meal boxes will be delivered from the SISD Child Nutrition Department on Fridays. To have meal boxes delivered to your home, parents or guardians must call the Child Nutrition Office at  512-237-5646.
  • These boxes will include both breakfast and lunch.  Children not attending school will receive a box containing 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches.  Children attending school will receive a weekend box containing 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches.
All account balances will remain in the students’ accounts. Negative balances should be paid as soon as possible. To review your child(ren)’s meal account balance go to Lunch Money Now. Contact the Child Nutrition Department for assistance at 512-237-5646.
This waiver is for student meals only.
Smithville ISD’s Child Nutrition Department is still accepting household free/reduced meal applications. Please send in your applications, or apply at Meals App Now so those who qualify will continue to receive free or reduced meals once the USDA waiver has expired or funds run out.
If you have questions, please contact the Child Nutrition Director Candy Biehle at or 512-237-5646.
Lunch Money Now Program

The district's cafeterias can provide electronic accounting for student meal balances and daily meal ticket accounting through a service called Lunch Money Now. Lunch Money Now allows parents and guardians to manage their child's lunch money account. Parents can check balances and deposit funds to ensure their children have access to lunches. Parents can also setup email notices to inform them when a student's account dips below a specified amount.

Note: a parent or guardian needs the following information to use Lunch Money Now:

  • student's "S" number
  • last 4 digits of the student's Social Security Number
  • student's date of birth
