Google Classroom Information for Parents


Smithville ISD’s Google Classroom Information and Setup for Parents

Smithville ISD is currently using Google Classroom for student instruction at high school, junior high and Smithville elementary. Classroom is part of the district’s G Suite for Education package and your student has a login to their account (username and password). Your student’s teacher may have already contacted you about Google Classroom through email or phone call.


Classroom has two parts:

  1. Students participate in groups of virtual classrooms.
  2. Parents monitor students as a Guardian and receive email summaries for missing work, upcoming work and class activity. Parents do not join classrooms unless directed by a teacher. Provide your email address to your teachers so they can send a Guardian invite. 


Students Login to G Suite to See Their Classrooms

Your student can login to the district’s G Suite network and see which classes they have been invited to. Your teacher may have provided a Class code, which can be used to sign into a class. The code is not required: when your student logs in to their account, they can see the classes they have been invited to.
Start: On a laptop, Chromebook or other device, open the Google Chrome web browser and type in:

  1. You may need to set up a new Google account for your Chrome browser
  2. Students use their “S” number and a password to log into their district account and see their Classrooms
