I hope you are ready for a fantastic year at Smithville Elementary because I know that I am!  My name is Whitney Brown, and I am the Assistant Principal at Smithville Elementary.  The 2018-19 school year will mark my 4th year as the AP for SES, my 7th year in Smithville ISD, and my 19th year in the education profession.  I have had the privilege to work with students in grades PK-12 throughout my career, and a majority of that time has been spent serving students served in special education. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Southwest Texas State University and a Master of Education degree in Administration from Lamar University.
As a campus we strive to develop a growth mindset for our students as they travel through their educational journey.  This applies to both academics and behavior, and we hold our standards high for both.  Each day is an opportunity to grow and learn something new...even if that learning is the result of a mistake.  Restorative practices and language that supports a growth mindset allows our learners opportunities to persevere even when faced with adversity.
I am thankful to be working at such a wonderful campus with the BEST kids and teachers.  I learn something new from them every single day!  If you would like to contact me, I can be reached at [email protected]
