Targeted Improvement Plans
Our Commitment to Excellence
Smithville ISD is dedicated to providing high-quality education for every student. As part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, we have developed Targeted Improvement Plans (TIPs) for Smithville Elementary School and Smithville Junior High School for the 2025-2026 school year. These plans will be revisited in the 2026-2027 school year.
What is a Targeted Improvement Plan?
A Targeted Improvement Plan is a comprehensive strategy designed to accelerate student achievement and ensure all students receive the support they need to succeed. These plans are developed in accordance with Texas Education Code Section 39A and focus on:
High-Quality Curriculum: Implementing research-based instructional materials aligned to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
Data-Driven Instruction: Using regular assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies
Professional Learning: Providing ongoing training and support for teachers and administrators
Student-Centered Support: Identifying and addressing the specific needs of each learner
Community Engagement
We believe that student success requires a partnership between schools, families, and the community. As part of our planning process, we:
Conducted a public meeting at each campus to review performance and gather input.
Provided opportunities for parents, community members, and stakeholders to review and comment on the plans.
Presented the plans to the Board of Trustees in an open public hearing
Will continue to share progress updates through Campus Site-Based Decision Making Meetings and regular communications
