Tiger Families,

In mid-July, we shared with you all that Smithville ISD was not selected to continue participating in the Texas ACE (Afterschool Centers on Education) grant program for the upcoming school year.

We asked for your feedback, and your response was overwhelming. It is clear that our Smithville ISD community values the type of high-quality after school programming that we have successfully provided to our students for many years. We are committed to finding a way to continue this important service for our students and families.

Smithville ISD is in the process of submitting a required state application and is working through the process of full licensure to provide a fee-based after school program. Below are highlights of the planned program:

  • Contingent on state approval, we are targeting the after school program to begin on September 1, 2026.

  • After school programming will be available to SISD students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 5 on each school day, beginning at dismissal with flexible pickup available until 6:00 pm.

  • The program will be located at Smithville Elementary, and Brown Primary students will receive bus transportation to SES.

  • The estimated cost of the program is $200 per month per student, with reduced rates available to SISD employees. It is the intent of SISD to provide reduced rates based on economic need; however, the District is required to meet full licensure requirements prior to providing needs-based financial assistance.

Please be on the lookout for more information and applications coming soon. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we pivot to meet the needs of our Tigers after school.

Sincerely,

Dr. Molley Ealy
Superintendent of Schools
