Congratulations to our Destination Imagination (DI) teams from SJHS! These students competed in their first ever DI competition this weekend in Austin, TX. Team "Hercules" placed 4th in the Engineering category, the "Old School Gamers" placed 5th in the Technical category, and team "Movin' and Groovin'" placed 5th in the Fine Arts category! We are very proud of all of you!

The Tiger Band is hosting their annual Silent Auction and Chili Supper during their Solo & Ensemble Concert on February 15th from 5p-7p (come-and-go). Please come enjoy some great music and a meal to support our band!

Several of our students had the opportunity to participate in ESC Region 13's "Thank You Notes" project and tell why they are thankful for the teachers at SISD! Attention 8th Grade Parents! Next week the High School will host a Parent Information Meeting for incoming Freshman for the 24-25 school year. Please join us!

Next Wednesday, February 7th, the 6th and 8th grade Reading/Language Arts students will be taking their STAAR Stand Alone Field Test. The campus will be closed off to visitors during this time. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

CHANGE OF SCHEDULE: Today's 8th grade girls basketball game in Bellville will be A-Team only, starting at 5pm. A-team and B-team will combine. 7th grade A & B teams will play at their original times. Thanks!

Due to continued rainfall, and for the safety of our students and staff traveling home, Smithville ISD is canceling ALL after school activities for Wednesday, January 24th. This includes the ACE Afterschool Program. We will be monitoring the weather and will send out messages if there are other changes. Thank you.

For the safety of all students and staff traveling to school, and due to the flash floods in our area, Smithville ISD will delay start time for Wednesday, January 24th by two hours. The bell schedules will be as follows: BP - 9:55am SES - 9:45am JH - 9:55am SHS - 9:55am All buses will pick up two hours later as well. Thank you, and please be safe.

SISD will return to school Wednesday, January 17th, at regular time. We will see you all tomorrow!

Due to the forecast for continued freezing weather, and out of an abundance of caution for all students and staff traveling to school, Smithville ISD will be CLOSED on Tuesday, January 16th. This includes the cancellation of all UIL sporting and academic events. Information about the rescheduling of these activities will be shared as soon as possible. We will continue to monitor the weather and will send updates about the plan for Wednesday. Thank you and stay warm!

Smithville ISD is working with emergency management officials to monitor the incoming winter weather throughout the weekend. We will notify all families of any change to the schedule for Tuesday no later than Monday evening via text, website, social media, and local news outlets. Please be safe this weekend!

Don't forget that this Monday, January 15th, is a student and staff holiday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
