🔥 Brothers Giving Back: Home Fire Timber & The Hungry Tiger Fund 🐯
Meet Caleb and Emmet Magden, two brothers with big hearts and a passion for giving back! Through their business, Home Fire Timber, they cut and sell firewood—but it’s more than just a business, it’s a way to support their community.
Recently, Caleb and Emmet presented a $300 check from their proceeds to Candy Biehle, Smithville ISD’s Child Nutrition Director, in support of the Hungry Tiger Fund—a program that helps families who don’t qualify for free meals but still struggle to afford school lunches for their children.
💛 Why Donate?
No child should have to worry about affording a school meal. The Hungry Tiger Fund ensures that every student gets a nutritious meal, regardless of financial hardships.
🔥 How You Can Help:
Donate online at Smithvilleisd.org or call the Child Nutrition Department at 512-237-5646 to contribute. Every dollar makes a difference in a child’s day!
Let’s support Caleb and Emmet’s mission to keep kids fed and fires burning! 🔥🐯 #HomeFireTimber #HungryTigerFund #SmithvilleStrong

February Board Meeting Highlights:
⭐️ Pledge Leaders
⭐️ SES Students of the Month
After much discussion, the Board voted to keep the 25-26 Calendar very similar to the 24-25 Calendar. You can see the results of the survey that was sent out and other information that was presented to the Board on the SISD website-Academic Calendar page.
We will send out the 25-26 Calendar as soon as the Board-recommended adjustment to add one Bad Weather Day has been made.

Update on our favorite school cow, Aspen, is growing fast! At 4 months old, she’s already 38 inches tall—about the size of a 2nd grader—and weighs 285 lbs.! 🐮💪
Aspen calls Kansas home and is part of the Discover Dairy program, helping us learn all about farm life and where our milk comes from! 🥛🐄
Fun fact: Baby cows (calves) love to play, take naps in the sun, and drink lots of milk before moving on to hay and grain! 🌾☀️
Give Aspen a virtual "moo" in the comments! 🐮💬 #AspenTheCow #GrowingFast #DiscoverDairy

Fresh, Flavorful, and a Huge Hit at Smithville ISD High School!
Last week, our Child Nutrition team took lunch to the next level with hand-mixed, made-from-scratch smash burgers—and the response was overwhelming! Students couldn’t get enough of the bold, fresh flavors, and the reviews have been great!
If you tried the smash burger, we’d love to hear what you thought! And if there’s something you’d like to see on the menu, let us know. More delicious options are on the way!

Smithville Elementary was well-represented at the Greater Austin Regional Science & Engineering Fair this weekend!
14 science fair projects were submitted from our 3rd-5th grade students for judging in Austin. SES students walked away with three 1st Place ratings, 10 with 2nd place ratings, and one 3rd place.
We are so proud of these students and all they did to prepare for this contest! 🧡

Congratulations to Carina Berryann, who was selected to participate in the ATSSB All-State Band! 🎼
More than 10,000 high school band students from across Texas auditioned in twenty-two different regions for a place in their respective all-region bands. The top chairs in each region advanced to one of the five area auditions held across the state, and only 286 of these students were selected for all-state honors.
After several days of rehearsal, Carina and her fellow All-State Bandmates will present a concert on Saturday, February 15, 2025, in the Lila Cockrell Theatre of the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center in downtown San Antonio.
We are so proud of Carina and wish her the best of luck! 🧡
